Piano Prelude 2016 (“Amen”) for solo piano
Don Freund’s Piano Preludes are an ongoing series of annual short piano pieces begun in 1990. Prelude 2016 is a version for solo piano of the last section of Freund’s “Amen: Quintet Fantasy on the Plagal Cadence.” The entire jazz-tuned prelude is constructed as a set-up for the last two chords — “A-men” (IV-I).
